Chic For Cheap

ImageSure, you love all things fashionable and professionally stylish. But you don’t love the price tags on those fancy finds – money you’d rather save for retirement or vacation somewhere tropical. Thankfully, shopping on a budget doesn’t always mean compromising style for price.

Want to look fab without spending a fortune?

Get Inspired! Stay abreast of the latest trends on fashion sites like Vogue, InStyle and Glamour (and, of course, don’t miss Little PINK Book on Fridays for how to wear those styles to work). Then you know what to look for on discount fashion sites like Bluefly. Plus, check out ShopStyle, a search engine allowing users to cross-compare pieces on designer apparel.

To beef up their fashion reputations, Wal-Mart, Target and Kohls have contracted less-expensive clothing lines from top designers like Russell Simmons, Mossimo Giannulli and Vera Wang (and H&M even sells Jimmy Choos).

Discount havens like Loehmann’s and TJ Maxx offer substantial discounts on brands like Coach, Tommy Hilfiger and Pajar.

Time to accessorize. Don’t want to buy it? Borrow. Avelle (formerly Bag, Borrow or Steal) loans out handbags and accessories to members (think Netflix gone glam).

Bonus PINK Link: Before you hit the stores, create a business plan for your wardrobe. Downtown Women’s Club founder, Diane Danielson, tells how.
