20 Quick and Easy Things to Do to Save 
Our Planet

In celebration of our Earth issue, here is what PINK employees are pledging to do – and we encourage all readers to try just a few. Some take no extra time or money at all.

1. Go vegetarian one day a week.

2. Drive less; carpool, ride your bike or take public transportation.

3. Lower the thermostat by two degrees when it's cold outside – and raise it two degrees in summer.

4. Buy locally grown produce.

5. Ask your office to install energy-efficient light bulbs.

6. Replace old light bulbs at home with compact florescent bulbs.

7. Install an energy-efficient appliance.

8. Get your car tuned up to run more efficiently.

9. Ask your elected officials to raise fuel economy standards.

10. Sign up to use renewable energy for your electricity needs.

11. Caulk and weather-strip your home for better insulation.

12. Plant a tree and help protect our forests.

13. Reduce, reuse and recycle.

14. Unplug unused appliances and electronic devices.

15. Take shorter showers to save energy and water.

16. Install a low-flow showerhead.

17. Ask your company to buy a paperless fax machine.

18. Use a push mower on your lawn.

19. Air-dry clothes instead of using the dryer.

20. Take your own reusable shopping bags to the market.
